Many people have contributed to this directory. Foremost are the dedicated members of the Expert Panel who gave of their time and knowledge of independent living and vocational rehabilitation over the three years of this project. They are Catherine Campisi, Ph.D., currently Director, California Department of Rehabilitation; Margaret Keith, Coordinator of Student Disability Resources at California State University at Monterey Bay; Bryon MacDonald, Community Advocate; Henry Leng, District Administrator, California Department of Rehabilitation; Paul Longmore, Ph.D., Professor, San Francisco State University; Tom Seekins, Ph.D., Director, Research and Training Center on Rural Rehabilitation Services, University of Montana; and Joanne Bodine, former Deputy Director for Independent Living, California Department of Rehabilitation.
At the World Institute on Disability, Devva Kasnitz, Ph.D., Research Director of the Research and Training Center on Independent Living, provided constant support and expert guidance for this project, as well as many insights into the participatory action research process. Karyl Eckels and Jacqueline Gross provided timely administrative support, and Simi Litvak, Ph.D., offered valuable advice on conducting "best practice" research.
At InfoUse, Susan Stoddard, Ph.D., suggested the original inspiration for studying collaborations between the vocational rehabilitation and independent living communities. David Gilmartin helped during the early stages of the project, Joan Ripple proofread all documents, and Sylvia Chong designed the project Web site.
Last, but by no means least, we are grateful to the dozens of state and regional VR and ILC staff and others who provided information during this project. These dedicated service providers and advocates have worked together across diverse systems to build collaborative relationships to improve employment opportunities and results for people with disabilities.
