Turbojet engines have the highest top speed, but they're gas guzzlers! Turboprop and turbofan engines use much less fuel, but can't make a plane go as fast as a turbojet. We can say that for turbine engines, fuel economy and speed have an inverse relationship, which means that as one increases, the other one decreases.
