Getting Started

An ancient Greek oracle gave the advice to "Know thyself". Before you hire a personal assistant (PA), you should explore what your service needs and options are. This helps you to get ready for the hiring process. This page provides information for getting started with personal assistants and their services.

  • Modes of Service describes the ways you can get service, your responsibilities, and the pros and cons of each. Here you will learn about the different ways you can hire a PA.
  • Personal Goals and Preferences help you to crystallize your goals, the way you want to live, and how you prefer things in your life to be done. This will assist you in elaborating your task descriptions.
  • Self-Assessment helps you to review your needs. What can you do for yourself? What do you need help with? How much help do you need? Once you know where you need assistance you can develop your task description.
  • The Task Description reviews six broad areas of tasks that you may need help with. A tool to helps you develop your personal Task Checklist and description. The Task Checklist allows you to create a task calendar that will show what tasks need to be done. It also shows the days and times tasks are to be done.
  • Person Description helps you to create a description of you as a person. It should include information about you that will help your PA to work with you successfully. You can include some of your more important goals and preferences here. A short form of your person description may be used on the job description you develop for your PA.
  • Family Issues covers you and your family. It includes using family members as PAs. It also discusses things that can affect your relationship with your family.
