Sara, a research demographer

Sara is a research demographer in a health policy group. She analyzes statistics and demographic data to determine how many children, working adults, and elderly—have disabilities.

One of my challenges in school was being able to hear in class. I would send each of my professors an e-mail and introduce myself and say because I’m hearing impaired, I use assistive listening devices. Without exception, my professors appreciated that I was being proactive and not expecting them to give me any special treatment.
